Engineering Design Manager

Our company is currently seeking an Engineering Design Manager to oversee a variety of large-scale commercial light gauge metal building projects. In this role, you will act as the primary Design Coordinator, leading the design team from the inception of the design phase through final client approval and ordering of materials. It is essential that you ensure the goals and intent of the design are achieved, while meeting our client’s expectations and ensuring the buildings comply with all structural codes and construction standards. This involves verifying the accuracy and completeness of all drawings and specifications, as well as maintaining effective communication with the contractors on the project.

Applicants should have prior experience in light gauge metal design and construction with a focus on self-storage, although similar experience will be considered for the right candidate. Our office is located in the Stuart, FL area.

Design Manager Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design process from the initial concept developed by the project architect to the completion of construction documents.
  • Manage the design team to ensure that client specifications and expectations are met.
  • Create, standardize, and manage drawings, details, and specification libraries.
  • Maintain project files, including correspondence, drawings, and material samples.
  • Communicate with clients and contractors regarding any changes.

Design Manager Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or structural engineering preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience working in light gauge metal design and erection, preferably for a high-volume firm.
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD tools.
  • Experience with the following software tools: Revit, Navisworks, or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to quickly convey details, plans, and elevations through graphic means, either by hand or CAD.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Familiarity with building codes and construction standards.
