The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will deliver electrical engineering services to meet safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and service objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance (concepts, design, feasibility studies, preventive engineering, etc.) to production and maintenance departments.
  • Review procedures for operating or maintaining equipment, as well as safety procedures for equipment failures and repairs.
  • Evaluate practices and equipment performance, recommending process and equipment improvements.
  • Conduct studies for engineering projects: define project scope, design, write material and equipment specifications, prepare estimates and budgets, coordinate construction work, supervise contractors and workers, prepare operational and startup procedures, and train operating and maintenance personnel.
  • Approve the design of new equipment and the modification of existing practices while ensuring compliance with codes and government regulations.
  • In coordination with the senior draftsperson, ensure the mechanical drawings are updated.
  • Perform technical studies and non-routine tests to diagnose equipment failures or solve technical problems.
  • Comply with all safety regulations.
  • Ensure that work practices and procedures are safe.
  • Maintain compliance with company regulations and policies.

Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a P.Eng designation required.
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in an industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial equipment and machinery.
  • Proficiency in CAD systems and industrial drawing standards.
  • Experience with the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Experience in writing and analyzing PLC code (Siemens, Schneider).
  • Experience with high-voltage equipment (transformers, switchgear).
  • Open-minded and able to adapt quickly to change.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Bilingual (French and English) preferred.
