High precision machining shop estimator

Under the responsibility of the Director of Operations, the estimator’s primary responsibilities are to carry out all the tasks inherent in the proposal process and to support the personnel when conducting orders into production.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities – Proposals

  • Receives and prioritizes requests for proposals;
  • Follows the proposal process;
  • Analyzes the drawings of the proposal application;
  • Draws laser cut profile drawings (cutting drawings) as required;
  • Requests proposals for raw material;
  • Estimates the steps, methods and processes for the part manufacturing;
  • Calculates proposals cost;
  • Delivers proposals to customers on time;
  • Tracks sent proposals;
  • Analyzes lost business, attempts to understand the reasons for the lost and then changes the status in the ERP system;
  • Place orders with suppliers. 

Responsibilities – Manufacturing process

  • Collaborates with production to plan the orders received;
  • If necessary, make the corrections to the “part routing” following their production;
  • If necessary, contact customers to change the proposals (prices, drawings, etc.).

Responsibilities – Quality

  • Maintains the quality documents it owns.
  • Understands the drawings and purchase orders in order to meet the customer’s expectations in all

Responsibilities – Others

  • Continuous research, improving working methods;
  • Performs any other tasks at the request of his/her immediate superior.
  • Applies company standards and policies on health, safety and hygiene rules;
  • Involves in various projects or committees related to his/her field of expertise or his/her personal interests.

Skills

  • Bilingual (Minimum oral and written intermediary);
  • Knowledge of an ERP system and the Microsoft Office suite;
  • Basic knowledge of 2D design software (Autocad, Draftsight,etc.)
  • Relevant College degree to the job (Mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent experience);
  • Knowledge of the AS9100 aviation standard, would be an asset;
  • Masters drawing reading and machining techniques;
  • Knowledge of cutting tools and 3-4-5 axes CNC machines;
  • Knowledge of metals;
  • Good understanding of geometric tolerances;

Experience

  • 3- 5 years of relevant experience.
