Under the supervision of the Director of Technical Services and Projects, the Mechanical Project Manager addresses the technical needs of ongoing projects and potential requests in the field of mechanics. They play a key role in the design, planning, and execution of mechanical projects, ensuring the quality of technical solutions and estimates while maintaining a safe work environment. They work closely with engineering, maintenance, safety, and environmental teams as needed.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Project Execution

  • Participate in the design, estimation, and implementation of mechanical equipment installation or optimization projects;
  • Ensure compliance with schedules and budgets;
  • Analyze and resolve mechanical issues in collaboration with the engineering team;
  • Create technical drawings, schematics, and models to support projects (e.g., mechanical systems, industrial equipment);
  • Supervise installation or maintenance work to anticipate and resolve issues;
  • Compile technical data and contribute to the development of mechanical evaluations and specifications;
  • Provide specialized technical support to maintenance teams and operational facilities;
  • Research information from suppliers to estimate costs for equipment or mechanical parts;
  • Manage material orders and coordinate labor for projects;
  • Respond to technical emergencies and requests, sometimes outside regular hours;
  • Support the development and optimization of preventive maintenance programs for mechanical equipment.

Personnel Management

  • Supervise subcontractors and contractors on-site, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards;
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations on work sites and terminals.

Other Related Tasks

  • Plan time based on priorities and deadlines;
  • Be available to respond to team inquiries by phone;
  • Perform any other tasks requested by the immediate supervisor within the scope of the role.

Requirements

  • Education: College or university degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in mechanical engineering, mechanical project management, or industrial work.
  • Skills:
    • Leadership and organizational skills;
    • Excellent communication abilities;
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines;
    • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial standards.
  • Other:
    • Languages: Fluent French; knowledge of English required (projects in Ontario with English-speaking stakeholders).
    • Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks (or other CAD software), Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Travel: Yes, as needed.
