Product Owner (Montreal)

Job Summary:

The Product Owner plays a key role, positioned at the intersection of business planning, technological development, and user experience. This role is responsible for defining the product vision, planning and implementing the strategy around product line evolution, always based on a deep understanding of customer needs. Working closely with product development teams as well as sales and marketing teams, he/she coordinates and contributes to improving product development processes to innovate efficiently and at a fast pace.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with key stakeholders and departments to refine the product vision, define features and the medium to long-term product roadmap, and manage priorities.
  • Develop strong product positioning and strategy, always aligned with the company’s objectives.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and customer service teams to gain a detailed understanding of customer needs for each product line and translate them into product requirements.
  • Mobilize and align different teams to efficiently materialize corporate priorities and the product roadmap, while complying with quality requirements.
  • Closely follow up with customers and all internal stakeholders to manage progress towards full production.
  • Conduct performance reviews of product lines in collaboration with customer service to identify potential improvements.
  • Develop business cases and implement business plans with key stakeholders to execute the innovation portfolio and product strategy.
  • Use data-driven decision-making to prioritize initiatives and make strategic adjustments along the way.
  • Coordinate and lead gate review meetings with all stakeholders in the product development processes, gathering all necessary information to support decisions.
  • Develop in-depth expertise in your field by working closely with sales teams, customers, and industry analysts, and attending key industry events.
  • Act as a product expert, representing the voice of the customer, trends, and competition, and integrating user feedback into the company to further enhance external and internal awareness.
  • Collaborate on implementing pricing strategies, economic impact assessments, and go-to-market strategies, including strong product positioning.

Competencies:

  • University or college degree in a technological field: engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in product management or product ownership, preferably in a highly technological environment.
  • Strong technical background with close collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication (English and French), collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to synthesize and articulate a product vision and strategy.
  • Successful track record of product launches or project/program deliveries.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work in a fast-paced environment, and with multisite/international teams.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and tools.
  • Prior knowledge of product and software development, robotics, and automation is essential.
  • A deep understanding of the structural steel market and/or welding industry is a major advantage.
