Civil Engineer – Structure (Saint-Esprit)

Description:

Under the authority of the Director of Structural and Building Management, the position holder’s main function is to participate in multiple projects from conception to delivery. The role involves assisting project managers by performing various tasks related to project design, coordination, and direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project design in accordance with company standardized procedures and quality control.
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, division heads, directors, and senior directors to ensure project progress.
  • Work closely with drafters.
  • Attend coordination meetings with clients and project professionals for a significant portion of these projects.
  • Review and annotate plans created by drafters for project design.
  • Conduct various technical and analytical tasks including preliminary studies, surveys, or inspections necessary for project development and implementation.
  • Participate in preparing construction cost estimates.
  • Coordinate project progress and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Monitor assigned site projects: inspections, preparation of reports and visit notes, workshop drawing verification, issue resolution, attendance at site meetings, negotiation of additional work.
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Ensure project follow-up and client communications.
  • Adhere to targeted deadlines.

Job Requirements: Basic Skills:

  • Excellent proficiency in French (oral and written).
  • Functional knowledge of English (oral and written).

Technical Skills:

  • Technical expertise in civil engineering/building.
  • Proficiency in Office (Word, Excel), ADA, SAFE, and Autocad.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a car.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to crouch, climb, and walk.
  • Able to work outdoors (frequent) and in confined or elevated spaces (occasional).

Education or Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent experience in the field of civil engineering.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, or in the process of becoming a member (CPI), or member of the Ordre des technologues professionnels du Québec.
  • Construction site safety training (ASP card).
