Job description
We are looking for a Director of Operations who will be responsible for the overall management of our fiber production plant located in Lévis. The person will oversee the optimization of production performance, product quality, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. They will lead the existing teams and, with the assistance of the Plant Manager, develop growth strategies while pursuing the company’s sustainable development vision.

In your position
The Director of Operations will report directly to the Plant Manager to ensure the direction of operations and the development of projects within our Lévis plant.
More specifically
- Develop world-class sustainable processes and systems to close gaps in key performance indicators compared to industry best practices in operations, maintenance, and employee efficiency.
- Create a learning culture that supports continuous training, development, and employee efficiency.
- Create production and cost reduction processes to provide a platform for continuous and sustained improvement to achieve production goals.
- Build within your team a collaborative organization with all people involved in the continuous improvement of the plant’s key measures: safety, quality, productivity.
- Manage employee-related processes to recognize and develop individual and collective potential.
- Maintain a plant strategy that defines the production direction while ensuring long-term reliability and maintenance.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to promote effective sharing of information and feedback on business, issues, and departmental performance.
- Maintain labor relations with the various plant committees.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to support the development of medium-term strategies for the operational plan and annual maintenance.
- Perform any other related tasks.
Your qualifications
- University degree in engineering combined with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience with management responsibilities, preferably in the pulp and paper industry.
- Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Be a unifying person, in order to foster a work approach oriented towards innovation and development.
- Be a good listener and have a comprehensive vision of the market, in addition to maintaining business relationships with both internal and external communities.
- Possess the ability to make decisions quickly, have a sense of priorities, and excel in management, establishing action plans, and their implementation.
- Have a team-oriented approach, be a motivator, and possess an analytical mindset.
- Be proactive and possess leadership and coaching talents.

In the course of their duties, the selected person will periodically have to perform shift rounds.
