Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Structures and Buildings, the Division Head Construction Management oversees projects related to structures and buildings within their territory or service. Furthermore, they guide and provide functional supervision to team members to ensure compliance with laws, standards, and client requirements. Additionally, they assist the Director in managing and distributing the service/territory’s workload while serving as a project manager on complex or large-scale initiatives in the field of structures and buildings.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of service proposals and cost estimations for structures and buildings projects.
- Oversee the design and/or construction management of projects related to structures and buildings.
- Provide functional supervision to engineers, CPI, drafters, surveyors, and site supervisors, offering feedback and ensuring adherence to professional and quality standards.
- Plan, organize, and schedule projects from start to completion, meeting timelines, specifications, and budgets.
- Prepare and present project budget forecasts.
- Establish execution schedules, track progress, and ensure compliance.
- Develop and implement quality control programs specific to structures and buildings.
- Produce progress reports, client tracking programs, technical reports, and documents required by authorities.
- Manage billing for assigned mandates.
- Support superiors in assessing workforce needs and participate, if needed, in recruiting subcontractors or staff.
- Collaborate closely with company members, advising, supporting, and motivating them.
- Stay informed about new trends, methods, and technologies in the design and construction of structures and buildings to identify opportunities or risks.
- Resolve issues unresolved at lower levels.
- Provide technical support to the team, particularly in structural calculations and building compliance.
- Contribute to creating or updating work procedures.
- Participate in coordination meetings with clients and professionals, leading them when necessary.
- Ensure project follow-up and maintain effective client communication.
Job Requirements
Core Competencies
- Excellent proficiency in French (spoken and written).
- Functional knowledge of English (spoken and written).
Technical Competencies
- In-depth expertise in civil engineering, specializing in structures and buildings.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Proficiency in structural design and calculation tools (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit).

Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with a specialization in structures or construction engineering.
- Active member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Health and safety training for construction sites (ASP Construction card).
Required Experience

Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil engineering, ideally in the design and management of structures and buildings projects.
