Team Lead – Electrical Engineer (Lighting and Control Systems)

About the Company

A well-recognized Quebec engineering firm, specialized in energy efficiency, smart public lighting, and connected cities, and backed by a publicly listed Canadian group, is hiring a Team Lead – Electrical Engineer to lead a team of 4 to 5 designers in lighting and control systems.

This high-visibility role combines technical leadership, engineering sign-off, and turnkey project delivery for large-scale municipal and institutional clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the production pace of a team of 4 to 5 designers: assignment of mandates, priorities, individual objectives, and performance reviews.
  • Review, approve, and seal the plans, specifications, and engineering documents in lighting and control systems produced by the team.
  • Ensure project delivery within established timelines and budgets, and where applicable, meet contractual energy performance guarantee commitments.
  • Perform or supervise field surveys (photometric measurements, electrical service entries, infrastructure constraints) and assess their design implications.
  • Supervise and develop junior and intermediate designers through technical mentoring, plan reviews, and building greater autonomy.
  • Standardize practices (templates, checklists, and design tools) and contribute technically to public tenders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline with demonstrated electrical background) and member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) with the ability to seal plans.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical design, including a significant portion in lighting and/or control systems.
  • Proven experience directly supervising at least 3 designers, or an equivalent discipline lead role with active mentoring.
  • Proficiency with photometric tools (AGi32 and/or Dialux), the Quebec Construction Code – Chapter V Electricity (CSA C22.10), and IES standards (particularly RP-8).
  • Ability to perform and supervise field surveys, with occasional travel to regional sites (valid driver’s license required).
  • Professional French, both spoken and written, for Quebec municipal and institutional clients; functional English for pan-Canadian collaboration.

Strengths

  • Experience in turnkey ESCO projects.
  • Knowledge of smart public lighting (platforms such as SGIE/SCMS, DimOnOff, Telematics Wireless, Current/GE).
  • Experience in a publicly listed group environment.

At Larouche Raymond Inc., we promote a fair and inclusive recruitment process. We value diversity of backgrounds and experiences. Every application is welcomed with respect and consideration.
