Assignment

The estimator will be responsible for the complete evaluation of ventilation projects — from analyzing plans and specifications to preparing technical and financial bids. This key role contributes directly to the company’s profitability and competitiveness.

Main responsibilities

  • Analyze plans, specifications, and technical documents in ventilation (HVAC, building mechanics).
  • Perform the necessary takeoffs, counts, quantity calculations, and measurements (ducts, conduits, equipment, accessories, insulation).
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates: materials, labor, subcontracting, equipment, and logistics.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and drafters to validate technical choices.
  • Prepare bids and tender documents.
  • Identify risks, possible variations, and optimization opportunities.
  • Participate in internal estimate review meetings.
  • Update cost databases and estimation tools.
  • Provide feedback after project completion to improve the accuracy of future quotes.

Requirements

  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in estimation in the field of ventilation, HVAC, or building mechanics.
  • Excellent understanding of plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Solid knowledge of ventilation systems, including: ductwork and ducts, airflow, mechanical accessories, acoustics, controls, and installation.
  • Proficiency in takeoff and estimation tools (Excel, specialized software).
  • Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Great rigor, autonomy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with different stakeholders (production, engineering, project managers).
  • Communication claire et professionnelle en français.
  • Clear and professional communication in French.
  • Residence in the Joliette / Lanaudière region or willingness to relocate there.
