The mandate

 

Larouche Raymond is representing a confidential client, a fast-growing construction project management firm established on Montréal’s North Shore and recognized across Québec. To support the growth of its public-sector activities, our client is seeking a Civil Projects Estimator. Reporting to the Director of Public Projects, you will be responsible for the entire bidding process for public tenders, from plan and specification analysis through to compliant submission. This is a key role where the accuracy of your estimates directly drives the company’s growth.

The role day to day

 
  • Coordinate public calls for tenders and the evaluation of bids.
  • Coordinate or carry out the site visits required to prepare bids.
  • Analyze plans and specifications and produce complete, accurate cost estimates.
  • Ensure all pricing requests are issued, then analyze the parameters of both internal and subcontractor estimates.
  • Ensure selected subcontractors cover the full scope of work and, where needed, develop a complementary estimating strategy.
  • Oversee the preparation of bid forms and submission documents.
  • Ensure bids comply with the regulatory and contractual requirements specific to public procurement.
  • Present completed estimates to the Director of Public Projects for final validation.
  • Track all bids and ensure they are completed within the prescribed deadlines.

The ideal profile

 
  • Training in civil engineering, construction estimating or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project estimating, ideally with public tenders.
  • Strong command of reading and analyzing plans and specifications.
  • Solid knowledge of public-sector client requirements and the tendering process.
  • Rigour, strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several bids at once under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent command of French.
