The mandate
A leading North American manufacturer of recycled fibre and sustainably produced paper, with deep roots in Quebec going back more than a century, is looking for an Electrical Maintenance and Thermal Plant Supervisor for one of its mills. Working in partnership with the current supervisor, you will share responsibility for managing thermal plant operations and supervising the electrical department. Your mandate: guarantee the safety, reliability and efficiency of the equipment while optimizing maintenance processes to minimize downtime and extend the life of the installations. This is a hands-on leadership role at the heart of mill operations, with a direct, measurable impact on plant performance.
The role day to day
- Supervise and coordinate the electrical department and thermal plant maintenance teams to keep equipment running reliably
- Plan resources, manage parts and track maintenance budgets
- Manage the day-to-day operations of both departments, including equipment start-ups and shutdowns
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs
- Collaborate with operations, engineering and subcontractors to optimize the performance of the installations
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and applicable regulations
- Improve energy efficiency and equipment reliability while fostering a safe, collaborative work environment
The ideal profile
- Training in mechanics, electricity or electromechanics; any other relevant training will be considered
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years managing a maintenance department; experience that includes a thermal plant is an asset
- Solid experience in a heavy industrial environment
- Basic English and working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is an asset
- Availability for weekday and weekend on-call duty according to the established rotation
