The mandate

 

Larouche Raymond is representing a confidential client, a leading renewable energy producer active in wind, solar and hydroelectric power. As the energy transition accelerates and its project portfolio continues to grow, our client is seeking a seasoned leader to head its civil engineering team. The successful candidate will play a central role in the quality, compliance and performance of civil works, from design through commissioning. The position is based in Québec City, with a hybrid work arrangement.

The role day to day

 
  • Lead, coach and develop the civil engineering team.
  • Oversee the design and review of civil works for wind, solar and hydroelectric projects (access roads, foundations, drainage, structures).
  • Approve drawings, specifications and technical deliverables, ensuring the quality of engineering packages.
  • Manage engineering consulting firms and external consultants, from tendering through delivery.
  • Collaborate with development, construction and operations teams throughout the project life cycle.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory and environmental requirements.
  • Support cost, risk and schedule estimates during project development phases.
  • Champion health and safety best practices and continuous improvement of engineering processes.

The ideal profile

 
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (ing.).
  • 10+ years of civil engineering experience, including several years managing teams or projects.
  • Experience with infrastructure or major capital projects; knowledge of the renewable energy sector is a strong asset.
  • Engaging leadership, rigour and strong communication skills.
  • Available for occasional travel to project sites.
