Maintenance Director

About the Company

Our client is a North American leader in the pulp and paper industry. Specialized in the sustainable manufacturing of superior quality recycled fibers and paper from post-consumer materials, the company distinguishes itself by creating high-quality products with a low carbon footprint.

It operates several plants throughout North America, divided into three business segments (paper, fiber, and recovery), and serves a wide clientele across the entire continent.

Assignment

The Maintenance Director is responsible for the operations of the mechanical and electro-instrumentation departments. He/She actively participates in operational and financial management with the management team.

In collaboration with their team of supervisors, he/she coordinates all maintenance work, including:

  • Planned shutdowns
  • Daily work
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Subcontracted work

He/She works closely with the operations and projects sectors, while maintaining fluid communication with the other plant departments to foster teamwork throughout the organization.

Your Challenge

The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance of equipment in a paper manufacturing plant located in the Saint-Jérôme region. More specifically, he/she will:

  • Ensure the monitoring of processes, management tools, planning, and control for all maintenance team activities.
  • Ensure the standardization of equipment and facilities.
  • Evaluate opportunities for integrating new technologies.
  • Collaborate on the development and monitoring of the department’s budget.
  • Identify, propose, and deploy new ideas aimed at maximizing operational efficiency, continuous improvements, and efficiency gains.
  • Act as a change agent with stakeholders to ensure their leadership in project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, health and safety standards (H&S), as well as the collective agreement, and integrate them into the management of the department.

Your Qualifications

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in maintenance management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hold a university degree in engineering (membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec considered a major asset).
  • Demonstrated leadership in human resources management and occupational health and safety.
  • Excellent time and priority management skills.
  • Be dynamic, resourceful, and available.
  • Strong health and safety orientation.
  • Good judgment, decision-making skills, sense of initiative and innovation.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in French and English (spoken and written).

Other Relevant Information

The Maintenance Director will be required to perform weekday and weekend on-call duties according to the established rotation.
