Lead a mechanical engineering team and deliver major projects from concept through commissioning.

Up to $150,000 base + bonus  ·  Montreal, QC  ·  Hybrid  ·  10+ years  ·  Full time

The mandate

Larouche Raymond is representing a confidential client, a well-established organization, in its search for a Mechanical Engineering Manager. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians while serving as the go-to technical authority for leadership and clients alike. This is a leadership role where engineering excellence meets hands-on operational management, with real influence over deliverable quality and team growth.

The role day to day

  • Lead and mentor the mechanical engineering team: workload planning, coaching, performance reviews and skills development.
  • Oversee the design and analysis of mechanical systems (process, piping, pressure equipment, HVAC depending on mandates).
  • Ensure quality and compliance with applicable standards (CSA, ASME, building codes) and review technical deliverables.
  • Set schedules, budgets and fee estimates, then track them through to delivery.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients and external partners.
  • Coordinate cross-discipline interfaces (electrical, structural, process) to ensure seamless integration.
  • Support business development through proposals, cost estimates and technical presentations.
  • Champion continuous improvement in health and safety, methods and digital tools.

The ideal profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, including team or project management.
  • Strong command of mechanical design and applicable standards (ASME, CSA, current codes).
  • Inspiring leadership and a proven ability to grow a technical team.
  • Skill in managing multiple concurrent mandates with tight schedules and budgets.
  • Excellent French communication skills; functional English is an asset on certain files.
  • Proficiency with CAD and analysis tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor or SolidWorks) as required, paired with a client-focused mindset, rigour and a collaborative spirit.

What our client offers

  • Competitive compensation: up to $150,000 base, enhanced by a performance bonus program.
  • Hybrid arrangement offering a genuine balance between office and remote work.
  • Comprehensive group insurance and a retirement plan with employer contributions.
  • Stimulating, varied projects that give real scope to your expertise and autonomy.
  • A clear growth path toward broader leadership responsibilities.
