About the Company
Confidentiel — un chef de file de la fabrication de systèmes de soudage robotiques et automatisés pour l’acier de construction et la fabrication lourde
About the Role
Our client, a leading manufacturer of robotic and automated welding systems for structural steel and heavy fabrication, is hiring a Welding Engineer / Welding Engineering Technologist to be the face of the company’s technical expertise for customers across the United States and internationally once their welding cells are commissioned. From a U.S. home office, you will be responsible for post-commissioning training, weld-quality diagnostics, and continuous improvement of robotic welding processes — turning newly installed cells into reliable, high-throughput production assets and protecting the company’s reputation in the field. Expect 40–50% travel, near-total autonomy, and a customer-facing mandate where your work directly drives customer ROI. This is a hands-on field role for a robotic welding specialist who does their best work in front of customers, not behind a CAD station.
Key Responsibilities
- Own post-commissioning technical enablement — deliver advanced training in operation, programming, parameter optimization, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting so customer teams can run cells productively without ongoing vendor dependence.
- Diagnose and resolve weld-quality issues at customer sites, isolating root cause and adjusting parameters, procedures, and databases to restore or improve weld quality and throughput.
- Build, optimize, and maintain welding databases and welding procedures tuned to each customer’s parts mix and quality requirements.
- Provide responsive remote and on-site technical support to end users, owning issues through to resolution.
- Create and maintain training materials — manuals, guides, online resources, and technical documentation — kept current with product and process changes.
- Support the Sales team during technical reviews and customer discussions, and assist commissioning/startup of new robotic welding cells as required
- Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Commissioning, and Service teams to deliver a seamless end-to-end customer experience.
Required qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience operating, programming, optimizing, and maintaining robotic or automated welding systems (manual-welding-only or inspection-only experience does not qualify).
- Strong working knowledge of welding processes (e.g., GMAW/FCAW) applied to structural steel and heavy fabrication.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering Technology or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience delivering technical training or presentations to operators or customers in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
- Fluent English (spoken and written), sufficient to train customers and author technical documentation.
- Able and willing to travel 40–50% across the U.S., Canada, and internationally, with valid passport/travel documents.
- U.S. work authorization and U.S. residence within 1.5 hours of a regional airport.
Strengths
- Expérience pratique avec les robots FANUC (par ex., Arc Mate) et/ou les plateformes logicielles de programmation automatique / de soudage hors ligne.
- Prior experience building or optimizing welding databases and welding procedures.
- Direct production experience in heavy-fabrication segments such as railcars, trusses, trailers, containers, or heavy machinery.
- Experience supporting commissioning or startup of new robotic welding cells.
- Home base near major U.S. fabrication hubs.
What we offer
Confirmed package: per diem, travel-expense coverage, 401(k), paid leave, and a wellness program. Base salary band, bonus structure, and any equity to be confirmed with the employer. Given the 40–50% travel load, the per diem and full travel-expense coverage are a meaningful part of total take-home.
