Welding Engineer, Robotic Systems (Field) — up to $140,000 USD — 100% Remote (US)

Own the technical success of robotic welding systems in the field, turning complex automation into reliable production for customers across the United States.

Up to $140,000 USD (base)  ·  United States  ·  100% remote  ·  5+ years  ·  Full time

The mandate

On behalf of a confidential client — a manufacturer of advanced robotic welding equipment — Larouche Raymond is seeking a Welding Engineer to serve as the technical bridge between engineering and the customer floor. This is a field-based, customer-facing role for someone equally at home writing welding procedures, tuning a robotic cell, and solving problems alongside an operator in real time. You will work remotely from anywhere in the United States, with regular travel to customer sites.

The role day to day

  • Commission, install and validate robotic welding systems at customer facilities, from first arc to full production sign-off.
  • Develop and optimize welding procedures (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW) and program robotic paths for arc, torch angle, travel speed and heat input.
  • Troubleshoot weld-quality issues on site — porosity, spatter, distortion, penetration — and drive them to root cause.
  • Train customer operators and maintenance teams on programming, changeovers and preventive care of the cells.
  • Partner with design and applications engineering to feed field learnings back into product and fixture improvements.
  • Support pre-sale technical reviews, weld sample trials and feasibility studies for prospective customers.
  • Document procedures, PQRs and acceptance criteria in line with AWS and applicable codes.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues, coordinating remote and on-site resolution.

The ideal profile

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on welding engineering experience, ideally involving automation or robotics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong command of arc welding processes (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW) and weld metallurgy.
  • Experience programming or troubleshooting robotic welding cells (FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa/Motoman or similar).
  • Ability to read weld symbols and blueprints and to interpret AWS D1.1 or comparable codes; CWI or CWEng an asset.
  • Comfortable with frequent travel to customer sites across the United States.
  • Excellent communicator and self-directed professional — able to coach an operator and brief an engineering director with equal clarity, in a fully remote, field-driven role.

What our client offers

  • Base salary up to $140,000 USD, commensurate with experience.
  • 100% remote home base, with company-supported travel and expenses.
  • Direct impact on cutting-edge robotic welding technology and the customers who depend on it.
  • Autonomy and ownership of your projects from commissioning through production.
  • A growth path into senior technical, applications or team-lead roles.
