The mandate
An independent civil engineering firm, firmly rooted in the greater Outaouais region and recognized for its excellence, rigour and integrity, is seeking its next assistant director for its bridges and engineering structures sector. This strategic role combines project management, design, site supervision and team leadership, with a clear path toward a director position in the medium term. You will act as a true right hand to the sector director, within a human-scale organization that works primarily with municipal, governmental and other public-sector clients.
The role day to day
- Lead bridge and engineering structure projects from preliminary design through to delivery
- Contribute directly to design work, plans and specifications, technical analyses and recommendations
- Oversee site supervision and coordinate the work of technicians assigned to projects
- Ensure quality, compliance, schedule adherence and cost tracking across projects
- Support the director in planning, mandate allocation and the department’s technical decisions
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians and help improve work methods and the quality of deliverables
- Take part in service proposals, risk assessments and multidisciplinary coordination
The ideal profile
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a relevant field
- Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in bridges and engineering structures
- Significant experience in project management, design and site supervision, including coordination of field technicians
- Excellent command of French, both spoken and written
- ASP Construction card and a valid driver’s licence
