The mandate
A leading North American pulp and paper manufacturer, recognized as an environmental leader in its industry, is looking for a Maintenance Planner for its plant in Saint-Jérôme, in the Laurentians. Reporting to the reliability department supervisor, you will play a central role in plant performance: planning, coordinating and optimizing preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize production interruptions and maximize the efficiency of maintenance operations. This is a key position for a structured professional who wants a direct, measurable impact on equipment reliability at a major manufacturing site.
The role day to day
- Ensure effective use of the work order management system and plan preventive maintenance
- Estimate the labour and materials required for work orders and produce the maintenance team’s daily schedule
- Ensure parts availability with the supervisors (kitting) and support storeroom parts tracking
- Prepare planned shutdowns and manage work crews during those shutdowns
- Plan external resources and meet with suppliers to stay current on new technologies and products
- Keep equipment records up to date and liaise with internal requesters to deliver their work requests
- Enforce health and safety (OHS) rules and help prevent risks
The ideal profile
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in maintenance planning in a manufacturing environment
- A DEC in mechanical or industrial engineering, an AEC in maintenance planning and management, or any other relevant training
- Solid knowledge of mechanics and electromechanics in a production environment
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to analyze databases (Excel, SQL)
- Basic English proficiency
- Availability for periodic on-call duty according to an established schedule
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Kanban planning is an asset.
