Senior Azure DevOps Specialist — Quebec — Up to $200,000

A technology consulting firm, Microsoft Solutions Partner and GitHub verified partner, helps mid-sized and large organizations across Canada and the United States modernize their applications and their DevOps practices. Its consultants are senior engineers first: they work in small teams, often alongside Microsoft, and are trusted to make the technical calls and carry them through to production. Our client is hiring a Senior Azure DevOps Specialist, fully remote in Quebec.

The mandate

You own the DevOps and platform track on client engagements, from assessment through implementation and handover. A typical engagement runs three to nine months: migrating a client from Jenkins or TFS to Azure DevOps or GitHub, standing up a landing zone and an infrastructure-as-code foundation in the Canadian Azure regions, containerizing a .NET or Java portfolio on AKS, or putting in place the delivery and observability practices that let a team ship daily instead of quarterly. You typically run one or two engagements at a time, mostly in Quebec, and report to the Modern Engineering practice lead.

The role day to day

• Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (YAML) and GitHub Actions, from build and test through security scanning and multi-environment deployment.
• Automate Azure infrastructure with Terraform and Bicep as modular, reviewed, versioned code: landing zones, networking, identity, Key Vault, App Service, Functions and data services.
• Containerize applications with Docker and run them on AKS or Azure Container Apps with Helm and GitOps (Argo CD or Flux).
• Lead DevOps tooling migrations to Azure DevOps or GitHub, from branching strategy to repo and work-item migration and team enablement.
• Build observability and DevSecOps into every delivery: Azure Monitor, Application Insights, GitHub Advanced Security, Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy and least-privilege identity.
• Assess a client’s delivery practices, produce a prioritized roadmap, deliver the first increments yourself and coach the client’s engineers through pairing, code review and workshops.
• Support pre-sales once or twice a month and contribute to internal accelerators and tooling between engagements.

The ideal profile

• 5+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, SRE or cloud, including 3+ years hands-on with Microsoft Azure in production.
• Command of Azure DevOps and GitHub: YAML pipelines, GitHub Actions, environments, approvals, templates and reusable workflows.
• Strong infrastructure-as-code skills with Terraform or Bicep, including Git workflows, state management and module design.
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes (ideally AKS), plus working knowledge of Azure identity, networking and security: Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities, virtual networks, private endpoints, Key Vault.
• Comfortable scripting in PowerShell, Bash or Python, with enough .NET (or another application stack) to collaborate credibly with developers.
• Excellent spoken and written French; English is required because part of the client and partner base, including Microsoft, is located outside Quebec and platform documentation is in English. Legally authorized to work in Canada.
