Welding Engineer — Robotic Systems — Up to US$135,000 — 100% remote (U.S.)

Be the face of a leading robotic welding systems manufacturer’s technical expertise for customers across the United States and internationally, from a remote U.S. home base.

Up to US$135,000 · United States · Remote · Minimum 5 years

The mandate

Our client, a leading manufacturer of robotic and automated welding systems for structural steel and heavy fabrication, headquartered in Canada, is hiring a Welding Engineer to be the face of its technical expertise for customers across the United States and internationally. From a remote U.S. home base, you will own post-commissioning training, weld-quality diagnostics, and continuous improvement of robotic welding processes — turning newly installed cells into reliable, high-throughput production assets. Expect near-total autonomy and a customer-facing mandate where your work directly drives customer ROI. This is a hands-on field role for a robotic welding specialist who does their best work in front of customers, not behind a CAD station.

The role day to day

  • Own post-commissioning technical enablement — deliver advanced training in operation, programming, parameter optimization, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting so customer teams can run their cells without ongoing vendor dependence
  • Diagnose and resolve weld-quality issues at customer sites, isolating root cause and adjusting parameters, procedures, and databases to restore or improve quality and throughput
  • Build, optimize, and maintain welding databases and welding procedures tuned to each customer’s parts mix and quality requirements
  • Provide responsive remote and on-site technical support, owning issues through to resolution
  • Create and maintain training materials — manuals, guides, online resources, and technical documentation — kept current with product and process changes
  • Support the Sales team during technical reviews and assist commissioning and startup of new robotic welding cells as required
  • Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Commissioning, and Service teams to deliver a seamless end-to-end customer experience

The ideal profile

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience operating, programming, optimizing, and maintaining robotic or automated welding systems (manual-welding-only or inspection-only experience does not qualify)
  • Strong working knowledge of welding processes (GMAW/FCAW) applied to structural steel and heavy fabrication
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering Technology or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated experience delivering technical training or presentations to operators or customers in an industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Fluent English, spoken and written, sufficient to train customers and author technical documentation
  • Able and willing to travel 40–50% across the U.S., Canada, and internationally, with U.S. work authorization and U.S. residence within 1.5 hours of a regional airport

Key skills: robotic and automated welding systems, programming and parameter optimization, GMAW/FCAW, structural steel and heavy fabrication, weld-quality diagnostics, welding databases and procedures, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting, technical training, remote and on-site support, fluent English.

What our client offers

  • Base salary up to US$135,000
  • Bonus structure and full compensation details are confirmed on the first call
  • Per diem
  • Full travel-expense coverage
  • 401(k)
  • Paid leave
  • A wellness program
  • Given the 40–50% travel load, the per diem and travel coverage are a meaningful part of total take-home
  • Remote role based anywhere in the United States
