The mandate
On behalf of a confidential client building intelligent products at scale, Larouche Raymond is seeking a hands-on Azure Software Architect to define how large language models, agent frameworks, and cloud services come together into production-grade platforms. This is a senior, high-autonomy role for a technologist who still loves to design, prototype, and ship. You will set the technical direction, mentor engineering teams, and make the calls that keep AI systems reliable, secure, and cost-effective.
The role day to day
- Design end-to-end architecture for Azure-hosted AI platforms, including agentic and multi-agent orchestration patterns.
- Lead solution design around Azure OpenAI, AI Foundry, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and vector search.
- Define standards for prompt orchestration, tool calling, memory, and guardrails across agent workflows.
- Architect scalable microservices using AKS, Azure Functions, API Management, and event-driven messaging.
- Establish patterns for security, identity, observability, evaluation, and responsible-AI governance.
- Partner with product and data teams to translate business goals into pragmatic technical roadmaps.
- Own cost, latency, and reliability trade-offs for LLM inference and vector workloads at scale.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers through design reviews, proofs of concept, and reference implementations.
The ideal profile
- Minimum 8 years in software engineering and architecture, with recent hands-on cloud delivery.
- Deep expertise across the Azure platform: compute, networking, identity, data, and AI services.
- Proven experience architecting LLM or agentic systems in production, not just prototypes.
- Strong command of at least one of C#/.NET, Python, or TypeScript, along with modern API design.
- Fluency with containers, Kubernetes (AKS), CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
- Solid grasp of RAG, embeddings, evaluation, and AI safety and guardrail practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, with Azure certifications a strong asset; excellent written and spoken English, able to influence technical and executive audiences.
