The mandate
On behalf of our client, a growth-focused organization, Larouche Raymond is seeking a seasoned Azure Software Architect to define the technical direction of business-critical applications built on Microsoft Azure. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of software engineering, cloud design, and pragmatic decision-making. You will shape the blueprint, set the standards, and mentor the teams that bring it to life — fully remote, from anywhere in the United States.
The role day to day
- Design end-to-end cloud architectures on Azure, covering compute, storage, networking, identity, and security for scalable, resilient applications.
- Lead the modernization of monolithic systems into microservices and event-driven architectures using AKS, Azure Functions, and Service Bus.
- Establish architectural standards, reference patterns, and technical governance for engineering teams across multiple products.
- Define and enforce CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform), and DevOps practices within Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Partner with product and engineering leadership to translate business requirements into robust, cost-optimized technical solutions.
- Champion cloud security, observability, and Well-Architected Framework principles across the platform.
- Conduct architecture reviews, guide proofs of concept, and mentor senior developers on best practices.
- Manage cloud cost, performance, and capacity planning to keep the platform efficient at scale.
The ideal profile
- Minimum of 8 years in software engineering, including several years in a cloud architecture or technical lead role.
- Deep, demonstrable expertise with Microsoft Azure services (AKS, App Services, Functions, Cosmos DB, SQL, Service Bus, Entra ID).
- Strong background in .NET or another modern stack, plus microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid grasp of cloud security, networking, and the Azure Well-Architected Framework; Azure certification (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert) strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
