The mandate
A well-established Quebec building-mechanical contractor specializing in ventilation, based in the Laval area, is looking for a Project Manager (Eng.) to take ownership of its projects from bid through execution to administrative closeout. You will play a central role in project planning and in the technical, administrative and financial follow-up of each mandate, coordinating closely with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors and the jobsite. This is a complete, end-to-end mandate with real autonomy and direct visibility on project success.
The role day to day
- Coordinate projects internally, from bid to execution through administrative closeout
- Plan and track work progress against established schedules, budgets and contractual requirements
- Prepare budgets, purchase orders and subcontract agreements, then process, validate and approve supplier and subcontractor invoices
- Analyze and compare plans and specifications issued for bid against those issued for construction, and ensure they are properly applied
- Prepare, negotiate and approve all project documents: change notices, progress statements, deficiencies, PIE, delivery memos and shop drawings
- Plan and schedule subcontractors, purchases and site materials, and quantify progress schedules and payment applications
- Conduct site visits, develop execution and contract-management strategies, and ensure compliance with standards, permits and provisional and final acceptance milestones
The ideal profile
- A degree in engineering, building mechanics or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar project-management role
- Relevant building-mechanical experience with a strong understanding of ventilation systems
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- A proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders: internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors and the jobsite
- Strong organizational skills, rigour and autonomy
