The mandate

A well-established Quebec consulting engineering firm specializing in urban infrastructure, currently in strategic growth mode, is seeking a Department Director to serve as the technical authority of its Urban Infrastructure practice, with partner (associé) status. Based in Laval, at the heart of Greater Montreal, this mandate combines technical leadership, delivery of major projects and business development in the Quebec municipal market. It is a rare opportunity for a senior engineer to shape a growing department while taking a leading seat at the firm’s table.

The role day to day

  • Act as the department’s technical authority for the design of municipal infrastructure: water mains, sewers, roadways, drainage and urban development works
  • Lead major projects end to end, from design through delivery, with full accountability for schedule, budget and quality
  • Supervise and validate plans, specifications and technical calculations, standing behind the quality of every deliverable
  • Coordinate related disciplines: geotechnical, environment and structure
  • Drive business development: identify opportunities, prepare service offers and build a lasting network with municipalities
  • Mobilize multidisciplinary teams and actively develop the next generation of municipal engineers

The ideal profile

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in municipal infrastructure
  • Proven experience both designing and supervising urban infrastructure projects
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Membership in good standing with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Mobilizing leadership, strong influencing skills and a marked interest in business development and team growth
  • Fluency in French, essential for working with Quebec municipal clients
