Our client, a well-established Quebec contractor specializing in building mechanics and ventilation, is based in Laval. They are looking for a Project Manager (Eng.) able to run projects end to end, from bid through execution to administrative close-out, in a hybrid work arrangement.
The mandate
This role exists to ensure complete project coordination, from the bid stage through execution to administrative close-out. The incumbent plays a central role in planning and in the technical, administrative and financial follow-up of projects, working in close coordination with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors and the job site. They ensure work progresses smoothly and that schedules, budgets, contractual requirements and applicable standards are respected, including permits and the provisional and final acceptance stages.
The role day to day
- Coordinate projects internally, from bid to execution through administrative close-out
- Plan work progress, purchasing and site materials, and schedule subcontractors and construction milestones
- Prepare budgets, purchase orders and subcontract agreements, and control costs and overall project progress
- Analyze and compare plans and specifications issued for bid against those issued for construction
- Prepare, negotiate and approve change orders, progress statements, deficiency lists, delivery memos and shop drawings
- Conduct site visits and develop execution and contract-management strategies
- Validate supplier and subcontractor invoices, quantify progress schedules and prepare payment applications
The ideal profile
- Degree in engineering, building mechanics or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar project management role
- Relevant experience in building mechanics, with a strong understanding of ventilation systems
- Proficiency in interpreting plans, specifications and contract documents
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Proficiency in French, the day-to-day working language
