A leading logistics and industrial services platform headquartered in Trois-Rivières operates terminals across Quebec and Ontario with a workforce of some 500 specialists. Growing through innovation, capital investment and acquisitions, our client is seeking a Senior Corporate Controller to structure and modernize financial reporting across a multi-company group. This is a business-partner role with direct access to senior leadership.
The mandate
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you own the production, quality and interpretation of financial information for every company in the group. You lead the corporate accounting department at head office, coordinate monthly and annual closes and support the accounting teams at the operating sites. Within the first year, you are expected to shorten close timelines, strengthen the internal control environment across entities and deliver management analyses that measurably improve profitability and working capital. You also drive the financial integration of newly acquired entities.
The role day to day
- Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for all group companies and coordinate the external audit;
- Analyze results, budget variances and trends to support decisions by management and operations;
- Maintain, document and strengthen group policies, procedures and internal controls from head office to the sites;
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking transactions and the credit process while optimizing working capital;
- Contribute to budgets, forecasts, strategic plans and the analyses behind acquisitions and integrations;
- Lead and develop the corporate accounting team: hiring, priorities, deadlines and a culture of rigour;
- Automate and standardize recurring analyses using advanced Excel, Power Query, Power BI and the ERP to speed up decision-making.
The ideal profile
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration and CPA designation (or recognized accounting designation);
- 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance or corporate control, including experience in a multi-company environment;
- Significant experience managing an accounting team and coordinating complex financial processes (closes, consolidation, audits);
- Advanced Excel proficiency and solid knowledge of ERP and integrated accounting systems; Power BI and Power Query a strong asset;
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, financial statement preparation and audit processes;
- Bilingual in French and English, spoken and written.
