Carry building-structure mandates from design through to site for an established Montreal consulting engineering firm, with direct access to technical leadership and a genuine path to partnership.

The mandate
Our client is a well-established Montreal consulting engineering firm specializing in building structures, with mandates spanning institutional, commercial, multifamily residential and industrial projects — from new construction to the rehabilitation of heritage buildings. Teams are deliberately compact: the engineer who designs is the one who seals and goes to site. This role is built for a senior engineer who has moved past pure execution and wants to shape design decisions upstream — structural system selection, cost-performance trade-offs, feasibility — with direct access to technical leadership and a genuine path to partnership.
The role day to day
- Design and size reinforced concrete, steel, timber and masonry structures for medium- to large-scale building projects
- Perform and verify structural analyses: static, seismic, wind loads and serviceability limit states
- Produce, review and seal drawings, specifications and calculation notes, acting as engineer of record on your mandates (schedules, fee budgets, deliverables)
- Carry out site inspections and construction surveillance; respond to RFIs and review shop drawings
- Conduct structural assessments and capacity evaluations on existing buildings
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, reviewing their work
- Contribute to business development: client meetings, technical proposals and fee estimates

- Proficiency with SAFI, S-Frame, ETABS, SAP2000, Robot or an equivalent analysis tool, and working knowledge of Revit and BIM workflows
