Team Lead — Temporary Structures Engineering — Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures — Up to $140,000

It is looking for a Team Lead – Temporary Structures Engineering for its Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures office, near Quebec City. The role suits a seasoned structural engineer ready to step into technical coordination and leadership while staying hands-on in design.

The mandate

Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Innovation, you coordinate the technical side of engineering projects while actively taking part in the design, analysis and validation of temporary structures and scaffolding. As the team’s technical reference, you coach the engineers, foster knowledge sharing and safeguard the quality of deliverables and adherence to deadlines. Working with sales, operations and clients, you help develop safe, innovative solutions tailored to each project’s needs. The first-year goal: a well-coordinated engineering team, designs reviewed against consistent quality standards and schedules that hold.

The role day to day

• Coordinate priorities and the allocation of mandates within the engineering team, together with the Director.
• Act as the team’s technical resource, support engineers in delivering their mandates and review their designs.
• Design and review installation drawings, calculation notes and fabrication drawings for custom parts.
• Analyze site surveys, validate project feasibility and attend site visits and technical meetings when required.
• Verify project compliance with applicable laws, codes and standards, then issue compliance letters following inspections and verifications.
• Work with the sales team on bid preparation and technical solutions, and provide technical support to internal teams and clients.
• Contribute to research and development projects and to the improvement of products and design methods.

The ideal profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (structural specialization an asset).
• Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in structural design; experience in temporary structures or scaffolding an asset.
• Project coordination experience or a strong interest in technical leadership, with the ability to manage many projects at once and set priorities.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite; knowledge of AutoCAD, SAFI, ETABS, SAP2000 or similar software an asset.
• Professional French, the working language; valid Class 5 driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
